First look at Ikea's new pet collection
Two years in the making, Ikea has just announced a brand new collection for pet-loving homes.
The Swedish retailer's furry-friendly collection, Utsådd, launches in April and aims to simplify and brighten up life at home with pets, focusing on four different activities: eat, sleep, play and hide.
Easy to clean and resistant to everyday use, there are 29 products in the range that consider the needs and wants of cats and dogs and their families, all while prioritising safety.
The pet collection includes colourful ceramic food bowls, a double-sided anti-slip placemat, water-repellent and machine-washable soft blankets and beds,bone-shaped toys made from natural rubber and fabric, a modern tent and rattan-made house, and – one ideal forsmall spaces – a cosy cat house that fits perfectly into Ikea's versatile Kallax shelving unit.
With input from veterinarians, pet product experts, and 'an exigent panel of cats and dogs', Ikea's pet collection is based on research on the daily life, behaviours, and preferences of pets at home.
'At Ikea, we believe that pets are family. Our goal was to develop a collection of products that our cats and dogs love and that their human parents can feel good about and truly enjoy having as part of their home,' says Julia Rosenberg, product design developer at Ikea of Sweden AB.
The Utsådd collection will be available in the UK and Ireland, in-store and online, from 1st April 2024.
