First Look At Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt In Sci-Fi Romance Passengers
Two of today’s biggest Hollywood stars are set to team up on screen for the first time in ‘Passengers,’ and now we have our first official stills from the film.
Entertainment Weekly released these two new images of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, who star as deep space travellers inadvertently woken from cryogenic sleep 90 years too soon.
Romance blooms – but it soon turns out the space ship is malfunctioning, and the lives of both the waking couple and their 5,000 sleeping fellow passengers are in danger.
‘Passengers’ director Morten Tyldum (‘The Imitation Game’) describes Jon Spaiths’s script as “It’s one of those stories that really grabs you and you fall in love with it. It’s very smart and funny and clever and such a page turner I couldn’t put it down. Every 10 pages, something new happens!
“At the same time it’s a very intimate movie while taking place on this epic scale… It’s not afraid to entertain but at the same time it asks big questions about what does it mean to really feel happy.”
“Every generation has its love story. I feel like this is it. I had to do it.”
Of Pratt and Lawrence, Tyldum says, “I honestly couldn’t ask for a better cast. They’re so great together, and both of them are so hard-working.
“They take the characters so seriously and bring so much to the roles with charm and intelligence and charisma. They really went for it and it is phenomenal to watch.”
It’s also known that ‘Passengers’ features a sex scene between Lawrence and Pratt – a first for Lawrence, who has described the experience as “really weird” and “the most vulnerable I’ve ever been” on film.
‘Passengers’ opens in UK cinemas on 23 December.
