First dibs: The limited time Kumoya x Cinnamoroll pop up from 19 Aug 2022 is too cute to be resisted

Get ready to plunge into a world of adorable aesthetics and fluffy plushies when you visit the new Kumoya x Cinnamoroll pop up at Orchard Central. For the 20th anniversary of the beloved Sanrio character, you’ll find yourself surrounded by soft pinks and baby blues that represent the chubby, white puppy whose tail is supposed to look like a cinnamon roll. It can’t get cuter than that, so I was pretty pumped to check the place out for their opening morning on 19 Aug 2022, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Each table had an individual Cinnamoroll that you can cuddle with until your order arrives. The menu items include a range of six snacks, five mains, three desserts and 10 drinks, predominantly featuring Japanese cuisine aside from simple western food. I ordered what I felt looked the cutest on the menu, choosing the Chocolate Molten Lava Cake (S$22.90) and the Vanilla Frappe (S$13.90)

The lava cake arrived first and I would have to definitely give it 10/10 for its visuals. The chocolate oozed out beautifully and was warm, complementing the cold vanilla ice cream really well. The best part was the bed of biscuit crumble that brought it all together. The cotton candy and the biscuit with the cinnamoroll characters didn’t do much for me taste-wise but added to the overall aesthetic.

The Vanilla Frappe is meant to mimic the image of clouds and it achieves that. It wasn’t too sweet and had a creamy texture, making it quite filling. The rainbow marshmallow on top was a nice addition.

If you’re more interested in the savoury side, they offer dishes like Cold Udon with Sesame Sauce and Assorted Tempura (S$26.90), Japanese Seafood Curry Rice (S$28.90) and Carbonara Smoked Duck Pasta (S$24.90) to name a few.

It’s available only for a limited time period, so check it out before it’s gone. Overall, it does make a dent in the wallet but proves to be a wholesome experience with good food and cute plushies, definitely perfect for the kids and the ‘gram.

Expected damage: S$12.90 – S$28.90 per pax
