We Finally Know the Name of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Baby Son
The name of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s first child has been revealed.
Their baby boy is named RZA Athelston Mayers, per the The Daily Mail, which obtained a copy of his birth certificate.
The first name is a nod to the Wu-Tang Clan’s de facto leader, RZA. Meanwhile, the middle name is the same as Rocky’s, whose given name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers. Vulture notes that the baby’s name seems to follow after a family tradition of naming kids after rappers, since Rocky himself was named after after the legendary rapper and producer who formed half of the hip-hop duo Eric B. & Rakim.
Since giving birth to her son in May 2022, Rihanna has hinted at her child’s name by wearing Wu-Tang Clan merch. In August 2022, she even stepped out wearing a RZA T-shirt.
Rihanna is pregnant with her and Rocky’s second child, a reveal she made during her historic Super Bowl halftime performance in February.
The singer talked about how motherhood has impacted her during the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show press conference. “When I first got the call to do it again this year, I was like, ‘You sure?’ Like, I’m three months postpartum, like, should I be making major decisions like this right now? Like, I might regret this,” she said. “But when you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world, you can do anything.”
