FDCP, SM Cinema launch new cinema line for indie titles

Starting this April, FDCP-curated indie movies will be screened at SM Cinema locations

Fans will get to see more indie movies in cinemas for the next three years.

24 Mar – Indie titles seldom get the chance to be picked for screenings in cinemas but things are about to change with Cine Lokal.

The new cinema line launched by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and SM Cinema will house independent, award-winning films and FDCP programs.

All these will be screened at select SM Cinema locations across the Philippines starting from April 2017.

The news was shared on FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Dino's Facebook, stating that "Cine Lokal's goal is two-fold: to provide independent filmmakers with a commercial venue for their films, thereby strengthening their experience and training on film marketing and distribution, and to create a culture of support and viewership among Filipinos nationwide."

Cine Lokal will run for three years at eight SM Cinema branches, after the partnership is formalised with a contract signing between Dino and SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. (SMLEI) President Edgar Tejerero today, 24 March, at Cerchio Restaurant, Tomas Morato.

Independent film fans will be able to catch FDP-curated indie titles at SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, SM Fairview, SM Iloilo, SM Southmall, SM Cebu, SM Bacoor and SM Mall of Asia starting from next month.
