‘FBI’ Franchise Seals Tuesday Ratings Win for CBS

All three “FBI” titles banded together to seal victory in both the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and total average viewership for CBS Tuesday, according to Nielsen’s live plus same-day figures. While the network saw a slight dip in ratings from last week (0.49 to 0.45 in the key age range), it increased its viewing figures, from 6.1 million average viewers to Tuesday’s 6.3.

Episode 4 of the flagship and spinoff series — “FBI,” “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted” — delivered solid audience numbers: 7.4, 6.1 and 5.4 million average viewers, respectively. Each program increased its viewers by a couple to several hundreds of thousands of watchers.

Ratings-wise, each program saw minor decreases from the week prior. Last week, ratings were strongest for the original show, which drew a 0.55 rating. At 9 p.m., “FBI: International” had a demo rating of 0.4 and at 10 p.m. “FBI: Most Wanted” got 0.38 in the demo.

Here’s how primetime went down across the major broadcasters:

CBS was first in both ratings and total average viewership, while ABC followed closely behind in second place for ratings with 0.44 in the demo.

ABC kicked off the night at 8 p.m. with an installment of “Bachelor in Paradise,” which hit at 0.55 in the key demo and garnered 2.1 total average viewers. At 10 p.m., the network aired an episode of the Niecy Nash-starring “The Rookie Feds,” which drew 0.23 in the demo and 1.6 million viewers on average.

NBC was third in ratings with an average 0.41 in the demo. The network was first runner-up in total average viewers with 4.2 million. The network kept itself in the competition with an installment of “The Voice,” which drew a 0.6 in the demo and 6.3 million total viewers on average. An hour later, at 9 p.m., NBC aired “La Brea,” with a 0.38 rating and 3.5 million average viewers. The network closed out the night with a 10 p.m. airing of “New Amsterdam,” where the program received a 0.24 rating and 2.6 million total viewers on average.

Fox was fourth in ratings, receiving 0.29 on average in the demo, while being third in total average viewership, which was 2.2 million. At 8 p.m., Fox’s “The Resident” received an average 0.36 in ratings and 2.7 million viewers. An hour later, “Monarch” drew a 0.21 in the demo and 1.7 million average viewers.

The CW was fifth in ratings, with 0.09 in the demo, as well as fifth in total average viewership, with 562,000. Meanwhile, ABC was fourth in total average viewers, drawing 1.9 million. With the premiere of “The Winchesters,” the prequel series to “Supernatural,” The CW was able to jump up nearly a point in ratings, from 0.03 last week to 0.12. The series also more than doubled total average viewership from the week prior (which had seen an episode of “Leonardo”), drawing 781,000. The network closed out the night with a 9 p.m. airing of the “Professionals” pilot, which drew 0.05 in the key demo and 344,000 average viewers.

Neither The CW nor Fox air primetime programming at 10.

Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision was first with a 0.4 in the demo and 1.5 million total viewers across primetime. “La Herencia, Un Legado de Amor” received a 0.5 demo rating and 1.5 million total viewers at 8 p.m. “Los Ricos También Lloran,” which aired from 9 to 11, got a 0.4 in the demo and 1.5 million total viewers.

Telemundo came in second, averaging a 0.2 demo rating and 852,000 total viewers. “Éxatlon,” which aired from 7 to 9 p.m., managed a 0.2 demo rating and 796,000 total viewers. “Fuego del Destino” aired to a 0.2 demo rating and 800,000 average total viewers from 9 to 10 p.m. “Infiel: Historia de Un Engaño” closed out the night with a 0.2 demo rating and 986,000 total viewers from 10 to 11 p.m.
