Fazley Yaakob puzzled by backlash about his new image
4 Feb - Fazley Yaakob has recently dismissed criticisms from netizens over his decision to revamp his style since his divorce from wife of eight years.
The former singer-turned-restaurateur, who has been filling his Instagram account with posts of him going to the gym, playing sports, and renewing his style that include him wearing coloured contact lenses, admitted to be surprised by the criticisms he received from netizens especially with regard to the said lenses.
"I have been wearing these lenses for three years. But people only noticed that since I got a divorce. When I was married, nobody seems to care? I have been the spokesperson of the contact lenses brand for three years, why now?" he asked.
Fazley said that he did not wear the coloured contacts for fun, but to fulfil his duty as the spokesperson.
"The colours are not even that peculiar. But maybe it's because I am a man, and that seems strange to some people. But it's good that people notice. It helps me promote them," he said.
It is noted that netizens have been debating about Fazley's style and social media posts now, with many blasting the former singer for sharing gym videos with him wearing athletic wear that is not appropriate for a Muslim man.
