Holiday decorations can really add up and hurt your pocket book. If you'd rather allocate funds for gifts, a great way to offset cost is to create your own decor. These giant ornaments are made up of affordable repurposed elements and still pack a big visual punch on your mantle or front porch. They're also the perfect complement to your Christmas door decorations. Add these to your holiday craft projects list.

Light globes, used tuna cans, and eye hooks are the only items you need to get started on these giant ornaments. When we came across Home Stories A to Z's brilliant craft, we couldn't stop ohhhing and ahhhing over it. The best part? It's super easy to make. Here's what to do:

To start off, get yourself a light globe and a used tuna can.

After removing the tuna label and cleaning the can, drill a hole in the center of it, and screw in an eye hook. (See Home Stories A to Z's blog on how to remove those tiny letters from the top of the can.)

From there, get those creative juices flowing, and decorate the globe with stencils and paint. When you're done, put battery-powered lights inside, and you've got your very own oversized ornament!

For a stand-out display, follow blogger Beth's lead and perch your ornaments on top of small wreaths on your front steps:
