Fashionista's May Shopping List: 34 Items Our Editors Love

We always have fashion on the brain here at Fashionista, but May kept us fed, with the Met Gala's elaborate odes to nature (Tyla! Gigi! Zendaya squared!) and the Cannes carpet. Naturally, we couldn't help but channel all this fashion-forward energy into our own wardrobes this month.

Summer dresses — be it of the floral, strapless or flowing maxi variety — took center stage in our shopping carts, with skirts and skorts trailing just behind. A number of white pieces caught our attention this May, including a breezy linen slip skirt, a wide-leg pair of jeans, a comfortably lightweight robe and a frilly striped matching set. We also need to take a moment for the accessories that caught our eyes: a blinged-out zodiac phone case, a red-hot statement bag and a summer-y chunky chain necklace.

Below, see (and shop!) all of our favorite May discoveries.

Hill House The Ophelia Dress, $198, available here (sizes XXS-XXL): "Hill House's latest Artist Edition capsule — where it brings in outside creatives to lend their work to the brand's beloved Nap Dresses — celebrates artists from the U.K. (The brand recently launched at the iconic Liberty London department store, and Founder Nell Diamond spent time across the pond growing up.) I'm partial to the archival F. Steiner eucalyptus floral on the Ophelia, which is a sweet midi with an adjustable neckline and fitted midriff. (Think 'Bridgerton' fashion, but for the modern brunch crowd.)" —Ana Colón, Deputy Editor

St. Agni Tuck Mini Dress, $425, available here (sizes XS-L): "I've long admired the Aussie label St. Agni from afar, but now that I own one of the brand's pieces, I'm even more obsessed. Details like the twill fabric, subtly 'tucked-in' waistline, short-but-not-too-short length and back cut-out elevate this from your standard strapless mini into something that feels timeless and sophisticated, but still a lot of fun." —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief

Agolde Dame High Rise Wide Leg Jeans in Fortune Cookie, $258, available here (sizes 23-34): "It's officially white denim season, and I love the creamy color of this wide-leg pair. The built-in oversized cuffs add a little something extra, too." —Stephanie Saltzman, Beauty Director

Goldie Tee Signature Slub Half Sleeve Tee, $90, available here (sizes XS-XL): "Given that you can most often find me in blue jeans and a white tee, I'm always testing new T-shirts, and this one from Goldie Tee stole my heart this month. I love that the burn-out cotton fabric is lightweight and doesn't cling to my body (even when sticky). The half-length sleeves offer a different silhouette to my usual baby tees (though I also loved the brand's Organic Boy Tee)." —Savannah Sitton, Contributing Market Editor

My Mum Made It Genevieve Blouse, $99, available here (sizes XS-XL) and Genevieve Shorts, $89, available here (sizes XS-XL): "I can already tell this set is going to be my summer uniform. Not only is it a one-and-done outfit when wearing the two pieces together, but they're also perfect for mixing and matching with denim shorts or a plain white tee when I want to add some more contrast to my look. Plus, they're so comfy, it feels like I'm wearing presentable pajamas." —Brooke Frischer, Staff Writer and Social Lead

Ph5 Gen-9 Eco Compression Tennis Dress, $285, available here (sizes XS-L): "I love how the ribbed pattern of this dress snatches the body while accentuating every movement. I saw someone wearing this in SoHo and was stunned. Tenniscore meets high fashion." —Andrea Bossi, Staff Writer

Sir Realisme Long Sleeve Shirt, $490, available here (sizes 6-14): "I've long since accepted that button-down shirts and I don't mesh, since they (without fail) always pucker. Sir's printed option, however, has given me hope, thanks to its comfy, slouchy fit. (Full disclosure: I was gifted this.) This lightweight, silk crepe number will no doubt be my go-to dressy summer shirt." —Janelle Sessoms, Staff Writer

Hollister Sofia Side-Smocked Maxi Dress, $60, available here (sizes XXS-XXL): "I'm at my style peak during sweater weather, but sundress season has a special place in my heart (and my closet). I love how this blue floral dress brightens up my wardrobe, and its tie-front neckline and pockets (!) have made it my go-to for a breezy sundress moment. As an unapologetic outfit repeater, trust I'll be attending many summertime outings in this dress." —Catie Pusateri, Contributing Writer

Co Crepe Midi Skirt, $695 $417, available here (sizes 0-12): "This is one of those classic, versatile pieces that I know will be in high rotation in my wardrobe for years to come. The tailored midi-length column skirt can give casual, professional, dressy and everything in between depending on how it's styled, and can truly be worn in any season." —Dhani

Brandon Blackwood Zodiac Phone Case, $45, available here: "Out: phone cases with your name on them. In: phone cases with your sun sign on them. (I don't really care that much about what's 'out' or what's 'in,' I just love this phone case.)" —Ana

Sky Ting Prana Tee, $50, available here (sizes XS-XL): "As a big fan of both yoga and Prada, I can't help but be delighted by this 'prana' (Sanskrit for 'life force,' referenced often in yoga) T-shirt from New York City yoga studio Sky Ting. Perfect." —Steph

My Mum Made It Dream Lounge Shorts, $85, available here (sizes XS-XL): "The boxers-as-shorts trend is inundating my feed, but it wasn't until I spotted these dreamy lounge shorts that I wanted to give the fad a go. Now, I'm a convert. Despite the Aussie brand being remarkably affordable, the quality is astoundingly strong. (Clearly this is not the first piece that I've fallen in love with from it.). They also come in trousers (the ultimate beach pant). My Mum Made It usually runs true to size, but noting this style in particular was a bit oversized, which just enhances its effortless Out Of Office vibe." —Savannah

Khy Classic High Rise Denim, $118, available here (sizes 23-24W): "I'm very particular when it comes to my denim — I like my jeans to have a good amount of structure without feeling like cardboard, but with a slight flexibility without feeling clingy like a legging. I usually have a lot of trouble crossing off all these requirements when denim shopping, but this pair from Khy checks every box. They even have a zip fly instead of buttons (a trendy design pet peeve of mine)." —Brooke

Laraque Charlotte Midi Tulle Dress, $575, available here (sizes XS-L): "The bubble hem has been such a huge trend lately, and I love how it's incorporated into this midi dress. The boat neck also gives it a sense of summery elegance." —Andrea

Abercrombie & Fitch YPB MotionTek Lined Flyaway Short, $50, available here (sizes XXS-XXXL): "I can be really self-conscious in running shorts due to my larger hips, but these have certainly more than quelled my fears. Whether I'm playing tennis (in my Tashi Duncan era) or running on the treadmill, not once have they ridden up or required constant adjustments." —Janelle

Sanctuary Boardwalk Slip Skirt White, $99, available here (sizes 24-34): "Long breezy skirts are a summertime favorite of mine (sorry, jorts), and this white linen skirt perfectly encapsulates the refreshing warmer weather. Since the brand sent it my way, it's already earned a coveted spot in my summer wardrobe rotation thanks to its casual beachside essence and its comfortably breathable fabric." —Catie

Victoria's Secret Cotton Gauze Spa Robe, $120, available here (sizes XS/S-XL/XXL): "I like the idea of a thick, fluffy terry-cloth robe, but, in practice, they can be annoyingly heavy, bulky and warm. Enter this cotton gauze option by Victoria's Secret, which feels just as luxurious and soft as any robe I've ever put on, but is nice and lightweight — perfect for summer." —Dhani

Larroudé Valerie Kitten Heel Slide Sandal, $300, available here: "I just found my new favorite summer shoe — for dressy days, for cocktail parties, for weddings, for spontaneous happy hour. The kitten heel provides these sandals with the most subtle bit of lift, but I can still run to catch a train in them." —Ana

Rixo Devine Necklace, $130 (charms sold separately), available here: "Charm necklaces are very much having a moment right now, and they have exactly the summer-y, vacation-y vibes I'm currently in the mood for. I'd style this chunky chain from Rixo with the clasp at the front, and keep adding my own charms to it — maybe collecting them on my summer getaways." —Steph

Stuart Weitzman Tully 50 Slingback, $495, available here: "I love a kitten heel slingback for how it can elevate an outfit while usually being pretty walkable. Stuart Weitzman's Tully is an excellent option, with its strappy details and tiny bow." —Andrea

Ochre Objects Cumulus XI Phallus Charm 01, $1,695, available here: "Because I can be so lazy (and easily overstimulated) when it comes to body jewelry, I'm building a collection of never-take-it-off pieces that are also small, so that my OCD won't feel or notice them. This month, I've been wearing a dainty linked bracelet with a micro ruby red heart from Ochre Objects. Next, I'm eyeing this cheeky little charm that would definitely make a great conversation piece." —Savannah

Everlane The Tencel Oversized Shirt, $110 $83, available here (sizes XXS-XXL) and The Tencel Wide-Leg Pant, $118 $89, available here (sizes XXS-XXL): "Once the warmer weather rolls around, I love to live in breathable, effortless matching sets. I've already loved wearing this blue striped one with chunky gold jewelry to dress it up a bit more, plus a colorful sandal and bag." —Brooke

Diane Von Furstenberg x L.G.R Raffaello Sunglasses, $440, available here: "I love switching up my shades in the summer for something with more attitude and flair. These sunnies channel that through their large frames, gradient lenses and punchy tortoiseshell rims." —Andrea

Universal Thread Shoulder Bag, $25, available here: "My purse collection bounces between two extremes: mini handbags and mega totes. I found myself needing a happy medium where I didn't have to choose between only carrying lip gloss or toting around my every possession. This shoulder bag's minimalist design goes with almost any outfit, and there's enough room that I can freely carry all my on-the-go necessities without rummaging around in a seemingly endless pit." —Catie

Tory Burch Violet T-Strap, $398, available here: "These shoes remind me of the T-strap Mary Janes I wore as part of my school uniform growing up — but in a positive way? The Toryssaince is really making me reconsider some pieces I thought I had left behind." —Ana

Hill House The Harper Lady Jacket Cardigan, $198, available here (sizes XS-XXL): "This chic cardigan is a simpler, less flashy (and less pricey) alternative to the ubiquitous one by a brand that has an ampersand in its name. I love it to dress up a pair of jeans or throw over a dress in case of an overly air conditioned restaurant." —Steph

Pandora Essence Organically Shaped Open Hoop Earring Stack, $370, available here: "You may know Pandora for its charm bracelets, but the jewelry brand has expanded the scope of its assortment in recent years, in an effort to grow its audience base (with a particular focus on Gen Z). It's been tapping more into its Danish roots, releasing product that's minimal, sculptural and timeless; the Pandora Essence collection embodies this. I love the curved earrings and rings, especially." —Ana

Besukoh Rhea Bag, $799, available here: "Clearly, I can't resist an edgy accessory, and this shoulder bag, designed in Los Angeles and crafted in Spain, sure does make a statement. I'd be hard-pressed to find a cooler going-out bag — I can just hear the outpouring of compliments coming from the ladies room now." —Savannah

Solid & Striped The Strapless Soglio Dress, $298, available here (sizes M-XL): "This feels like the ideal dress for an easygoing summer day. The curved waistline elevates the look, which is easy to pair with anything from strappy sandals to mesh ballet flats and kitten heels." —Andrea

Steve Madden Arline Strappy Block Heel Sandals, $89, available here: "I've been on the hunt for a strappy sandal for a couple months now, and this gold metallic pair checked all my boxes. I love the square toe style, double buckle detailing and simple yet striking criss-cross straps. The best part? They're actually comfortable to walk in all night long." —Catie

Apercu Christina, $189, available here: "I love when chic people release their chic take on a product — latest example: Christina Grasso's collaboration with Apercu, which is based around a single rounded cat-eye in a range of fun but understated colors." —Ana

Lolë Pace Anorak, $108, available here (sizes XXS-XXL): "No one tells you about 'May Gray' or 'June Gloom' before you move to Los Angeles. To wrestle with that, I found my perfect (gloomy) hot girl walk companion: a light, oversized athletic jacket with handy zippered pockets and cinched wrists — fully functional against all of the elements, while not sweat-inducing. (I roll it up in my fanny pack when need be.) And, importantly, it's also super cute." —Savannah

Under Armour Motion Skort, $50, available here (sizes XS-XXL): "Like most people, I'm more invested in the tennis aesthetic than ever before thanks to 'Challengers'. Now that it's too hot to work out in leggings, anyway, this pleated athletic skort provides my exercise outfit with pizazz and practicality." —Brooke

Rixo x Ciao Lucia Neroni Dress, $380, available here (sizes 0-10): It's hard to pick a favorite dress from beloved London-based dress brand Rixo's collaboration with beloved L.A.-based dress brand Ciao Lucia, but this summer-y white number won me over when I saw Laura Harrier wearing it at an event celebrating the launch. It's the perfect amount of sweet and dainty without veering into childlike territory. —Dhani
