Famous Ju Xing Home from HK to open in SG come Nov 2023
There’s no denying that Singaporeans love Chinese cuisine, which makes Michelin-rated Chinese eateries the cream of the crop for many. Despite an established hierarchy in this highly saturated space, Ju Xing Home‘s arrival in Singapore’s Takashimaya Shopping Centre may be the most meteoric yet.
Hailing from Hong Kong, a country with a rich food culture much like ours, Ju Xing Home is a restaurant specialising in Cantonese-Sichuan cuisine and seafood. Their unassuming storefront belies a greater secret — acclaimed Michelin-rated chefs are often among their crowds of frequent diners. In addition, this isn’t the first year that they’ve received the Michelin Bib Gourmand.
News of the restaurant’s overseas venture first broke in Dec 2022, when owner Ng Kong Kiu was in Singapore and announced his upcoming plans in an interview, according to 8 World.
Some popular picks from their Hong Kong menu include Fried Rice Vermicelli with Lobsters, Clam Soup, Sichuan Beef Soup and Sweet and Sour Pork.
Before we get caught up in the hoo-ha of an exciting new eatery, let’s take a step back and acknowledge the man who made it all possible.
For those not in the know, Robert Chua was responsible for bringing Tim Ho Wan and Kam’s Roast from Hong Kong to Singapore; both local Michelin-awarded eateries have become household names.
Despite a successful career in television broadcasting and production, his love for Hong Kong food spurred him to open Joy Luck Teahouse in 2020, offering just 3 items then — bolo bun, egg tart and milk tea. As we all know, the brand has expanded its menu and gone on to open multiple outlets across Singapore.
While the exact opening date of Ju Xing Home has yet to be determined, Chua regularly checks on progress at the Takashimaya hoarding; one Facebook post in particular provides a time frame of between Nov 2023 to early Jan 2023.
If Chua’s track record holds true, we can expect Ju Xing Home to be another hot favourite among Singaporeans.
