Famous fish soup restaurant Xin Yuan Ji opens new outlet in Northpoint City

Xin Yuan Ji 新源记 has a reputation for being the fish soup place in Bugis that’s constantly crowded. Now, you don’t have to go to Bugis as they have just opened a new outlet in Northpoint City!

I am sure the folks living in Yishun are ecstatic, since that part of the north has a rather unfortunate reputation. Now, Yishun folks have a redemption, having a place to enjoy fish soup without the long travel time.

Xin Yuan Ji — Yishun Outlet

This opening was not as broadcasted as many of us may have expected. Considering the prestigious reputation Xin Yuan Ji has, it was not featured anywhere other than a personal Facebook post

An extra note would be that the newly opened outlet in Northpoint City is under different management. Upon enquiry with Xin Yuan Ji in Bugis, the new outlet is under the shopping mall’s management rather than the founding stall’s. However, the branding of the store is genuine and in relation with one another.

Although the menu is smaller, the main classics are offered. The Fried Fish Soup (S$8.80) and Sliced Fish Soup (S$8.80) are the must try items, as these 2 dishes are the most popular in the Bugis store.

Classic favourites like Mala Prawn Paste Noodle (S$8.80) or Prawn Paste Chicken (S$6.80) are available for ordering. However, Claypot Curry Fish Meat with Rice (S$9.80) is highly recommended by frequent visitors.

I believe that this Xin Yuan Ji outlet would be mighty convenient for some Singaporeans. However, like most chain outlets, there may be questions on whether quality would be maintained. This more especially so, since the prices at its Northpoint City outlet are slightly more expensive than Xin Yuan Ji’s dishes in Bugis .

There is only one way to find out, as many of us will realise. Perhaps, for me, a visit to Yishun is be in order!
