Between keeping up with the Don’t Worry Darling saga and Queen Elizabeth’s passing, it has truly been a ~week~ for pop culture. Now, you may just want to turn your brain off, drink a bottle glass of wine, and watch a feel-good rom-com to close out these last few days. I know it can’t be just me.

Enter About Fate, Emma Roberts’ latest film that actually may remind you of her 2020 romedy Holidate, which makes sense because both were written by Tiffany Paulsen. About Fate follows Margot (Emma) and Griffin (Thomas Mann), two hopeless romantics who meet in the most absurd way on New Year’s Eve after each dealing with a hand of pretty bad cards, like, y’know, botched engagement proposals. Don’t think it could’ve been that bad? Well, just check out how Griffin’s proposal to his girlfriend Clementine, who’s played by Madelaine Petsch, went down:

Naturally, this and many more shenanigans (like two dudes duking it out at a wedding reception and a break-in to a bridal salon) only bring Margot and Griffin closer to finding the love they’ve always wanted.

About Fate is available in select theaters today, but if you can’t make it out, it’s also available to rent on Amazon Prime for $5.99. Britt Robertson, Wendie Malick, Cheryl Hines, and Lewis Tan are also in the film.
