Kenner is officially landing in the U.S. with the help of a couple of friends. Grammy-nominated artists Anitta and Masego are teaming up with the Brazilian-based shoe company to launch four new styles on Thursday, FN has exclusively learned. Anitta will also serve as the company’s first Global Brand Ambassador.
Kenner Rakka One Sandals
$75
“Kenner is an iconic brand that I have known since I was a teenager,” Anitta told FN. “So when I was invited to be an ambassador, it was an accomplishment. My style is aligned with Kenner, since as a good “carioca”, I love to dress with style and comfort. Kenner is very well known in Brazil, it is part of our culture and all I want is to bring an authentic expression of Rio fashion to the world.”
Kenner Rakka Boots
$150
Known for its large following in Brazil’s street fashion scene, the durable and eccentric four-hero designs will bridge the gap between urban and outdoor adventuring while staying true to the company’s disruptive, open-toe shoe design and versatile aesthetic.
$130
“We created the Rakka hybrid sole to be both aesthetically interesting and anatomically functional,” Bernardo Cabral, international marketing manager for Kenner, said. “Our high standards for functionality and comfort mean we always work with premium materials and advanced manufacturing technology to guarantee quality, comfort and finish.”
Images and video featuring Masego and Anitta to announce the launch were shot on the streets of Miami in hopes of celebrating the vibrant creative culture that emerges from the streets of Brazil. The campaign’s soundtrack features a mix of styles from the two artists, with a more groovy feel at the start and a funk beat, harking back to the start of Anitta’s career.
“Kenner’s hybrid designs are dope because they push boundaries and encourage individuality,” Masego said. “For an artist, having that kind of freedom and versatility in something as fundamental as footwear is inspiring. It’s like they’re giving us a canvas to express ourselves even before we step on stage. Their designs are not just about comfort and style; they’re about making a statement. That aligns perfectly with what I aim to do with my music—break norms and inspire others to embrace their uniqueness. Plus, when you’re comfortable and feel good in what you’re wearing, it just amplifies your creative energy.”
About the Shoes
The Rakka Slide Pro and Rakka Mezkla combine the utility of a sneaker and a sandal, providing advanced arch support while elevating the typical open-shoe format.
$110
The Rakka Boot is designed with a high-top velcro lacing system — an eye-catching testament to the brand’s ability to reimagine footwear archetypes.
$150
The Rakka Ultra Force is a notable entry into the brand’s footwear category, a stylish, sporty slide construction that complements sportswear and casual clothing.
$85
Coming later in May, the Rakka Siren, a slip-on, is an ultra-modern heritage design made in collaboration with Cartel 011 that catapulted the brand to global notoriety.
About the Brand
Peter Simon founded the brand in 1988 in hopes of creating a versatile sandal fit for Rio de Janeiro’s beaches that would mimic the sensation of walking on sand. Simon developed the brand’s innovative hybrid sole, a combination of an EVA memory foam insole and vulcanized rubber. The U.S. release hopes to reinforce the positioning and global history of the brand and the artists: “From the streets of Brazil to the World”.
Today, Kenner is Brazil’s leading premium shoe brand, with an impressive 6.5 million pairs sold in 2023 alone, distributed across 8,000 stores nationwide.
