"My Ex and Whys" marks LizQuen's biggest opening number

The movie grossed PHP 31.5 million at the box office on its opening day

20 Feb - The LizQuen romantic movie, "My Ex and Whys" has been revealed to have grossed more than PHP 31 million at the box office on its opening day.

According to Star Cinema, the movie's opening day success registers the highest opening for Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, whose previous movies, "Everyday I Love You", and "Just the Way You Are" opened at PHP 16 million and PHP 12 million, respectively.

While the studio first announced the opening number as PHP 27 million, it updated to the aforementioned amount yesterday based on the overall ticket sales on the first day.

Although it was the biggest number for the love team, it still could not surpass the record made by Vice Ganda-Coco Martin's comedy, "The Super Parental Guardians", which grossed PHP 75 million on its first day late last year.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, "My Ex and Whys" tells the story of a former playboy (Gil) who wants to prove he is a changed man and his ex-girlfriend (Soberano) who no longer has any trust in him.
