"Ex Machina" star joins "Crazy Rich Asians" cast

Japanese actress Sonoya Mizuno will be flying to Singapore to shoot the film this month

11 Apr – Japanese ballerina/actress, Sonoya Mizuno will be joining international stars, Gemma Chan and Michelle Yeoh, in the movie adaptation of Kevin Kwan's "Crazy Rich Asians" novel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mizuno will be playing the role of Araminta, a Singaporean fashion icon and soon-to-be married fiancé of Nick's best friend, Colin.

Before this, Mizuno had a role in the sci-fi hit, "Ex Machina" as a cyborg. She also appeared as one of Emma Stone's roommates in "La La Land". You can expect to see Mizuno on the big screen in September in "Annihilation".

"Crazy Rich Asians" is about an American-Chinese economics professor, Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) who has to travel to her boyfriend, Nick's (Henry Golding) hometown of Singapore to attend his best friend's wedding. Rachel soon finds out that Nick comes from an incredibly wealthy family and is the most eligible bachelor in Asia. She now has to fend off jealous girls and Nick's disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh).

The all-Asian casted film will be brought to you by Warner Bros. and is directed by Jon M. Chu. The author of the source material, Kevin Kwan will serve as executive producer.

For now, no release date has been set for the movie, but filming is expected to start in Singapore this month.
