The evolution of street art: ArtScience Museum unveils new exhibition 'Art from the Streets'

Get ready to be bombarded on your social media newsfeed with edgy images of street art from around the world. ArtScience Museum begins 2018 with yet another Instagram-worthy exhibition, Art from the Streets, as part of Singapore Art Week 2018.

Running from 13 January to 3 June this year, Art from the Streets celebrates 40 years of street art, from its countercultural beginnings to its extraordinary rise as a global contemporary art trend.

Visitors to the exhibition will be the first in Singapore and Southeast Asia to have the opportunity to view works from some of the most renowned artists in urban art such as Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Futura, and Invader.

Regional names include Yogyakarta-based artist Eko Nugroho and Singaporean urban artists Speak Cryptic and Sheryo & Yok.

Curated by Street Art expert and gallerist Magda Danysz, the show includes larger-than-life works spanning from floor to ceiling made from different materials and mediums. Keep an eye out for the smaller but familiar iconic works such as former US president Obama’s campaign poster designed by Shepard Fairey and the iconic Space Invader image in “pixels” of mosaic tiles by urban artist Invader.
