The Academy Awards are close at hand, and the nearer we get to Hollywood's biggest awards night, the more details about the upcoming ceremony emerge. Here's everything we know so far about the annual awards show.

When are the 2024 Oscars?

The 96th Academy Awards are currently set to air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 10, 2024, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. eastern.

Jimmy Kimmel will host again

Jimmy Kimmel will return to his emcee position once again, marking the fourth time he's hosted the ceremony. This year will make him just one of three people to have hosted the ceremony four times, alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon. The only hosts to have earned the accolade more times are Johnny Carson who hosted 5 Oscars, Billy Crystal who has helmed 9, and Bob Hope who takes the top spot with a historic 11 hosting gigs.

Ryan Gosling will perform

Traditionally, as part of the Oscars, the Best Original Song nominees perform live, so it was only natural that fans would begin to speculate about Gosling's involvement after his song "I’m Just Ken" from Barbie (written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt) received a nod. While Gosling and Emma Stone declined to perform the nominated "City of Stars" from La La Land at the awards in 2017, this year it appears the star will take up the mic. THR reports that the actor will indeed be taking the stage during the show, though whether he will be joined by the other Kens from the movie hasn't yet been announced.

All of the other nominated original songs will also appear onstage during the broadcast, with performances by Jon Batiste (“It Never Went Away” from American Symphony), Becky G (“The Fire Inside” from Flamin’ Hot), Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell (“What Was I Made For?” from Barbie), and Scott George and the Osage Singers (“Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)” from Killers of the Flower Moon.)

Who else is involved?

As usual, there will be plenty of A-list names on stage during Oscar night handing out awards, including last year's winners Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The other announced presenters include Mahershala Ali, Nicolas Cage, Jessica Lange, Matthew McConaughey, Lupita Nyong’o, Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sam Rockwell, Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Keaton, Regina King, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate McKinnon, Rita Moreno, John Mulaney, Catherine O’Hara, Octavia Spencer, Ramy Youssef, Emily Blunt, Cynthia Erivo, America Ferrera, Sally Field, Ryan Gosling, Ariana Grande, Ben Kingsley, Melissa McCarthy, Issa Rae, Tim Robbins, Steven Spielberg, Mary Steenburgen, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlize Theron, Christoph Waltz, and Forest Whitaker.

In October 2023, it was revealed that Raj Kapoor will be taking on the role of showrunner and executive producer for the Oscars this year. Though the producer has been involved in the last seven Oscars telecasts, this will be his first time at the helm. Katy Mullan will also serve as a producer along with Molly McNearney.

"Raj and Hamish have been incredible Oscars collaborators, and we are delighted to welcome them and Katy to lead the 96th Oscars," Bill Kramer, Academy CEO, and Academy president Janet Yang said in a joint statement. "Their deep love of cinema, fresh vision and tremendous live television expertise is perfect for our reinvigorated show. We’re excited to work with them and our remarkable creative team—Kenny Gravillis, Misty Buckley and Alana Billingsley, David Chamberlin, Lisa Love and Raúl Àvila—to deliver an exceptional show for audiences worldwide."
