As the world anticipates the release of the new live-action version of "The Little Mermaid," the titular mermaid herself is holding audiences over with a series of perfectly on-theme red carpet looks. Halle Bailey is no stranger to being a statement-maker in fashion, but her commitment to method dressing as she promotes her latest film is on another level.
For the Los Angeles premiere, (and also the first of "The Little Mermaid"), Bailey stepped onto the blue carpet wearing a look from Albanian fashion designer Valdrin Sahiti. The reflective, iridescent gown mimicked the look of a watery sculpture, extending into two seashell shapes at the bust — particularly reminiscent of the original cartoon's seashell bra.
Later on for an "American Idol" performance of "Part Of Your World," Bailey displayed another example of method dressing, wearing a custom Michael Fausto gown (a designer we predicted would create a look for Bailey back in February). The silhouette of the look was directly inspired by the waves that crash behind Ariel as she sings on the rocks for the scene where the song is performed.
With plenty of premieres and press events to come, we expect no shortage of show-stopping, "Under The Sea"-inspired outfits to come. For the full rundown of each look, scroll through below.
