Everyone Is Deleting Uber
On Saturday night, in solidarity with Trump's immigration ban, the New York Taxi Workers Alliance announced a temporary work halt:
NO PICKUPS @ JFK Airport 6 PM to 7 PM today. Drivers stand in solidarity with thousands protesting inhumane & unconstitutional #MuslimBan.

In response, popular ridesharing service Uber continued to operate normally, promoting that they wouldn't be using surge pricing
Surge pricing has been turned off at #JFK Airport. This may result in longer wait times. Please be patient.

The Internet did not take kindly to this, accusing Uber of capitalizing on an important message of solidarity. Almost immediately, #deleteuber began trending.

In other altruistic acts from Silicon Valley bigwigs, Airbnb is offering is offering free housing to immigrants and refugees.
Here's specific, easy-to-follow instructions on how to delete your account:
Log in to your Uber account.
Type "yes" into the top field.
In the body of the message, fill in why you are deleting your account. Or not. It's up to you.
Click Submit.
Uber will then automatically delete your account. You must also manually delete the app from your phone.
