Eva Lai still shocked over news of Bonnie Lai's suspected suicide

28 Dec - Eva Lai is still in shock over news that Bonnie Lai has passed away.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actress, who is also a former beauty queen, revealed that she was filming a drama in mainland China when she found out about Bonnie's passing.

"How could this happen? I really can't accept it. In recent years, we have all been in the same group of friends who have been doing charity activities in a low-key manner, distributing materials to grassroots families and children. She has contributed both money and effort," Eva said.

Eva said that their group of friends would go to Bonnie's house to have barbecue and chats, and that they even made an appointment to do charity work before Christmas.

"But because I was too busy, I couldn't go that day. We even encouraged her to get the highest score in jewellery appraisal, which is really great, and we also said we would treat her to dinner," Eva added.

Eva praised Bonnie as a good mother with a kind heart, and that the former Miss Asia alumna did her best to take good care of her family.

"I really don't know what to say, I can't accept it," she added.

Bonnie was pronounced dead in hospital recently after she was found unconscious at home in North Point next to a pot of burning charcoal briquette. She was 47.
