Eric Wang criticised for saying no to "iPartment" movie

13 Jul – Chinese actor Eric Wang recently sparked criticisms after sharing the reason why he said no to an offer to appear on the big screen adaptation of his hit mainland drama, "iPartment".

As reported on Tencent, the actor, who sat down for an interview recently, bluntly admitted that "iPartment" was only one of his life experiences and not an indispensable part of his life.

He also criticised the nature of the show, saying, "The show is full of advertisements. It was all product placements. Rather than make a whole movie, why don't you just make a commercial instead?"

Eric also admitted that he dislikes his role as Japanese manga artist Sekitani Kamiya in the drama, and wasn't happy about cooperating in the fourth season of the franchise.

His response had since been blasted by fans of the show, who said that Eric is trying to erase his past work that actually made him famous.

However, it is noted that the actor has previously admitted that he wanted to be known for his talent and not for the one popular character he played in the past.

Some believed that Eric's decision not to do the movie adaptation is so that people will not continue to remember him as Kamiya instead of Eric Wang.
