Epy Quizon unfazed about National Artist Award for Dolphy

7 Sep – To Epy Quizon, son of the late comedian Dolphy, it no longer matters whether or not his father will win the National Artist Award posthumously.

As reported on Rappler, the actor who was asked about Dolphy being nominated again for the prestigious award, said that the family doesn't need a trophy as much as the love of the fans still have for him.

"For me, the love and appreciation that we have been receiving from fans who were moved by his movies are more than enough. We need people believing that my father was part of their culture. We're okay with that," he said.

Quizon added that the best trophy for the family is to find out that Dolphy has made somebody or anybody laugh through his movies.

"That's the award that every Filipino can give," he added.

Dolphy was first nominated for the National Artist Award in 2009, but was denied by the selection committee. His second nomination, which came three months after his passing in 2013, also ended with no trophy.
