Emma Watson turns the Empire State Building pink to mark International Women's Day
Emma Watson brought some magic to the International Women's Day celebrations. The Harry Potter star, who is taking a year off from acting to focus on feminism, joined First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray to turn the Empire State Building pink in honour of the important day.
"Look outside your windows at dusk! @Chirlane and I just turned the Empire State Building PINK!," she tweeted alongside a snap of the duo on the observation deck of the famous landmark.

The actress spent International Women's Day in New York
The 25-year-old made a strong stramp on social media and in New York City on Tuesday to mark the day, even having a Twitter emoji made for her HeForShe campaign.
Emma started her day by chatting with Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker on behalf of HeforShe, her organisation which encourages men to join the movement for gender equality.

Emma met with Forest Whitaker
"Had a wonderful conversation w/ @EmWatson today on gender equality. We can all play a role in this movement #HeForShe #ArtsWeek #IWD2016," Forest tweeted.
The star's International Women's Day celebration comes in the wake of the reveal of her Esquire cover. Posing alongside Tom Hanks, her co-star in The Circle, Emma told the magazine she feels her work is supporting women.
Dear @emwatson, on behalf of New York City, THANK YOU for inspiring feminists here & around the globe. #HeForShe pic.twitter.com/DEiLdyX7jv

Emma turned the Empire State Building Pink
"Just feels like I'm really doing what I'm meant to be doing," she said. Although she may have been labelled a "diva" and "difficult" for speaking out about the gender pay gap, this hasn't hindered her work.
"It's not going to stop me from trying to do the right thing and make sure that the right thing happens."

Emma and Tom made the cover for Esquire magazine
The British star revealed she would be taking a break from acting last month during an interview for Paper magazine with feminist Bell Hooks.
"I'm taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really. My own personal development is one," Emma said. "I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies, then I realised that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading.
"That I was learning so much on my own. I actually wanted to keep on the path that I'm on. I'm reading a lot this year, and I want to do a lot of listening," she added.
