Edgar Wright's next movie will be a 'horror set in Soho' in the vein of 'Don't Look Now'
Edgar Wright will be changing tack a little with his next movie project.
The director behind Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver has said that he plans to make a psychological horror film, set in London, which will hark back to classics like Nicholas Roeg’s chilling Don’t Look Now.
He told Empire: “I realised I had never made a film about central London — specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years.
“With Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”
Wright also adds that Roman Polanski’s Repulsion, his acclaimed horror from 1965, will also be a key influence.
He also has a planned documentary about the new wave electronic band Sparks in the pipeline, and a potential sequel to Baby Driver.
“A first draft of Baby Driver 2 exists,” he confirmed, adding that it ‘takes the story further’ with a host of new characters.
Produced on a relatively tiny budget of $34 million for a studio movie, it made back a healthy $227 million for Sony.
