Eddie Peng replaces Song Joong-ki as the face of Vivo

22 Nov - After much speculation, it was reported that South Korean actor Song Joong-ki has been replaced by another star as the spokesperson of Chinese smartphone brand, Vivo.

As reported on Yibada, the actor's forced withdrawal from his deal was reportedly caused by China's ban on Korean actors due to South Korea's stance on the deployment of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missiles.

Song had since been replaced by Taiwanese heartthrob, Eddie Peng.

However, it is said that Vivo is more affected by the decision than Song himself, as it still has to fulfill its side of the contract with Song worth USD3.3 million a year.

As for inviting Eddie Peng as its new face, Vivo said that the actor will be able to help improve sales of its new X9 smartphone.
