Eastpak and AVAVAV Are Bonded by Deconstruction

Off the back of another chaotic runway show at Milan Fashion Week this last season, AVAVAV is officially debuting its new Eastpak collaboration. Merging the distinctive styles of both brands, the collaboration fuses Eastpak's durability and functionality with AVAVAV's playful, experimental nature.

First teased on the runway at MFW, the collection includes four styles of bag: the AV Double Pak'r, AV Reader, AV Bumbag and AV Mini Bag in classic hues of black, neon yellow and white.

AVAVAV Creative Director Beate Karlsson notes, "For the Avavav x Eastpak collaboration, I wanted to design something that built on the Eastpak DNA, but that also introduced new Avavav silhouettes. So I started with the most obvious base – the Padded Pak'r. I like the round organic shape of the Padded Pak'r and I started to collage it in different ways, deconstructing and multiplying it to create new silhouettes. I like how it gives an almost utilitarian look when it's multiplied, as on the Bumbag and Reader styles."

Karlsson adds, "It also made sense to me to make a Double Pak'r since it starts to look like our signature bag and our finger shapes. To finish off the capsule collection we also added the Mini Bag, which is based on our signature bag silhouette that we are launching early this year."

Check out the new styles above, launching via retail stores and the Eastpak website.
