Eason Chan explains rude behaviour in Russia

19 Jun – Hong Kong singer Eason Chan has recently denied reports that he was being rude towards fans who wanted to take his photos during a FIFA World Cup game in Russia.

As reported on Mingpao, rumours of Eason's rude behaviour sparked recently, when some netizens shared clips of Eason getting angry and flipping a middle finger at people taking videos of him during the game.

Speaking to the media about the issue, Eason's manager Kam Ching Ching clarified that the video didn't capture the actual story of what happened.

According to Kam, Eason was invited to attend a game by one of the sponsors, and was seated in the VIP section with many mainland fans sitting nearby.

"When they found out that Eason was there, they took the opportunity to snap his photos. The news spread to other Chinese fans in the stadiums and they began to approach his section," said Kam.

She stated that since the game has already started, Eason was worried that the crowd of fans coming towards him would cause disturbance to others who were there to watch the game. Thus, he decided to get up and control the scene, and asked his fans to stop taking photos of him.

However, one of the foreign spectators who was annoyed by the interruption flipped his middle fingers to him for the unwarranted spectacle.

"Eason thought that the person was being impolite, so he raised his middle finger as a response to that person," said Kam.

However, the manager stressed that Eason was not affected by the incident and has been enjoying his time in Russia very much.
