Eason Chan cancels Fear and Dreams concert in Hong Kong
22 Nov – Fans' fears came true recently after Eason Chan announced that he too will be cancelling his highly-anticipated concert series in Hong Kong.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who was scheduled to perform at the end of the year, shared the bad news on social media, saying that the decision to cancel the "Fear and Dreams" concert has to be made due to the current unrest in Hong Kong.
"Given the recent situation, we can't predict and guarantee the safety of the audience and related transportation facilities. After many discussions with all the related units, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that we are cancelling all 25 concerts scheduled to be held at the Hung Hom Hong Kong Coliseum, and will arrange for refunds," the statement read.
Eason's camp stated that the decision was extremely difficult for all of them as they had dedicated a lot of time and effort to the concert and are now shouldering the economic loss and disappointment of their fans.
Although the news saddened a lot of fans, it did not come as a surprise to many of them, especially since there has been more than 60 shows in Hong Kong that are cancelled since the protests started more than five months ago.
