Dua Lipa has joined the long line of stars trialling experimental hairstyles on the red carpet, debuting a statement grown-out fringe at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend.

The tousled and textured up-do, courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Rio Sreedharan, was messy and voluminous from its backcombed roots to its fluffy cheek-grazing fringe. The A-line cut was made bouncy and wispy in true '90s supermodel style, featuring a tiered trimmed bang beginning at her temple and feathering out towards her jawline; the rest of her hair sat in a dishevelled take on a traditional French twist.

Undone yet chic, this traditional glamour-meets-bedhead hairstyle is just one of the striking brunette moments the singer has delivered on recent red carpets. Whether its a sleek mirror-shine ponytail, as seen in the announcement of her Versace 'La Vacanza' women's collection, or an understated natural wave, cue her pared back Met Gala locks, the Don't Start Now vocalist is somewhat of a red carpet chameleon when it comes to her hair, continuously experimenting with the shape, texture and finish of her glossy black-brown strands.

In terms of her Cannes make-up, Lipa opted for an on-trend '90s gunmetal smoky eye and warming brown-nude lip colour; her mystifying eyeshadow kept sultry by the presence of her wispy fringed visor. The 27-year-old made her film festival debut wearing a sleek Celine cut out gown, strappy black heels and a sparkling array of diamond Tiffany & Co jewellery while attending the premier of Omar La Fraise (The King of Algiers) alongside boyfriend, director Romain Gavras.

The singer wasn't the only attendee to veer towards a choppy and fresh fringe for the occasion. Actress Gemma Chan channelled Audrey Hepburn in fluffy, layered take on the modern day baby bangs. Elsewhere Florence Pugh has also been credited for an array of playful fringe styles, from a Scarface inspired blunt cut to the side-swept frames accompanying her intricate fanned-out up-dos.
