Dr. Anthony Fauci Thinks Brad Pitt's 'SNL' Impression Was Pretty Classy
Dr. Anthony Fauci knew that if he were going to be parodied on Saturday Night Live, he should at least shoot for the moon when it comes to who might portray him. One casual Brad Pitt suggestion later, and the immunologist got his wish. On Monday, during an interview with Telemundo’s Un Nuevo Dia, Fauci confirmed that he not only caught Pitt's portrayal of him on the remote episode of Saturday Night Live, but he was a big fan of the impression.
“I think he did great. I’m a great fan of Brad Pitt," Fauci said. "And that’s the reason why when people ask me who I would like to play me, I mention Brad Pitt. He’s one of my favorite actors. I think he did a great job."
Saturday's second-ever remote episode opened with a sketch from Pitt, who adorned a wig and glasses for his best impression of Fauci. Pitt's character addressed some of the more absurd allegations that the President has made about the COVID-19 virus, including the wild suggestions the President made about the curative nature of UV light and disinfectant in the human body. Pitt's impression of Fauci ended with Pitt removing his wig and thanking healthcare and frontline workers for their service.
Fauci specifically noted his appreciation of Pitt's sentiments at the end of the cold open, saying, "I think he showed that he is really a classy guy when at the end he took off his hair and thanked me and all of the health are workers. So not only is he a really great actor, but he is actually a classy person."
Not that it's a major concern right now or any time soon, but perhaps one day, Saturday Night Live can reunite the two and give us the Pitt-Fauci mashup he deserves. Until then, check out Pitt's best Fauci attempt below.
