Donnie Yen wins case against director

18 Nov - Three years after filing a lawsuit against Chinese director Tan Bing (also known as Geng Weiguo), it was revealed that Donnie Yen has won his case in court, Singtao news reported.

The conflict started back in 2012, when the director told media that his project, "Ultimate Decoding", failed to launch because of the martial arts actor.

He claimed that Donnie made several demands, including prohibiting Han Geng from joining the cast and making Jackie Chan leave his role as a producer of the movie. However, in the end, the actor decided not to do the movie.

Angered by the accusations, Donnie sued the director – demanding a written apology online and a compensation of RMB5 million (USD783,122) for the damage to his reputation. He claimed that he was slandered by the director, since both parties had no contractual relationship with each other.

On 17 November, the Beijing Haidian court ruled in favour of the actor, and asked Tang to pay RMB50,000 (USD7,832) in compensation, as well as to give a written apology.

When asked about his thoughts on the matter, Donnie responded, "Three years for justice. I believe in the law. Thank you friends who believed in me."
