Enter The Fat Dragon
This Chinese New Year at the cinema, you get to watch Donnie Yen don a fat suit and fight bad guys in his latest movie, Enter The Fat Dragon.
The action-comedy opens just before the lunar holiday begins, on 23 Jan in Singapore and 24 Jan in Malaysia.
The Ip Man actor plays a Hong Kong police officer who gains a hefty amount of weight after being left at the altar by his fiancée, and winds up fighting gangsters in Tokyo.
Enter The Fat Dragon is loosely based on the 1978 Sammo Hung movie of the same title. It is directed by prolific filmmaker Wong Jing, and co-stars Teresa Mo, Niki Chow, and Sandra Ng.
Other movies vying for your eyeballs during the Chinese New Year period include Jackie Chan’s Vanguard; All’s Well End’s Well 2020, starring Raymond Wong and Julian Cheung; The Rescue, starring Eddie Peng; and Will Smith’s Bad Boys For Life.
Yen was recently in Singapore to promote his movie, Ip Man 4: The Finale. His role as the famous Wing Chun master in the blockbuster Ip Man series turned him into an iconic action star. The 56-year-old actor said Ip Man 4 would be his last kung fu movie, but not his last action movie.
