12 Mac – Donnie Yen recently revealed that he decided to accept the offer to star in Disney's live-action remake of "Mulan" for the sake of his daughter Jasmine.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who spoke to the media at the premiere of the said movie in California recently, shared that he used to watch the Disney animated feature with his daughter over and over again back when she was a kid.
"When I was contacted by [Walt Disney Studios Chairman] Alan Horn to do the movie, I was disappointed that there would be no singing and dancing in the film," he said, light-heartedly.
Donnie added that he thought of rejecting the offer since he had a lot of other film offers at the same time, but it was Jasmine who asked him to do the movie.
The actor plays Commander Tung in the movie - a high ranking leader of the Imperial Army and a mentor to Mulan.
Regarding Crystal Liu's performance as Mulan, Donnie couldn't help but sing praises of the actress, saying, "She is very hard-working and has done a lot of preparations. A lot of actors in the mainland have played Mulan. This time, shooting the live-action Disney version and facing the global audience, I can imagine how much pressure she has on her shoulders."
