Donald Trump’s Going to Mexico and Twitter Is Having a Field Day

Donald Trump is heading to Mexico City on Wednesday to meet with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Twitter has taken notice, with the hashtag #TrumpMexicoTripSayings becoming a top trending topic.

“Clearly we’re not sending our best to Mexico. We’re sending liars. We’re sending narcissists. We’re sending sociopaths,” filmmaker Rob Reiner wrote.

Trump confirmed the visit on Twitter, writing Tuesday night, “I have accepted the invitation of President Enrique Pena Nieto, of Mexico, and look very much forward to meeting him tomorrow.”

The meeting comes after Trump’s repeated pledge to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico if he becomes president — along with his repeated pledge to make Mexico pay for it, something Peña Nieto told CNN in July would it be impossible.

“Relax, I was going to let you guys build it. It’ll be great, believe me,” a user tweeted, mocking Trump’s pledge, while a horde of users tweeted, “Remember the alimony!” Another popular topic among Twitter jokesters is Trump’s infamous taco bowl photo.

“The restaurants weren’t authentic. I couldn’t even order a taco bowl,” one user wrote.

While we wait for news to emerge from the meeting between Trump and Peña Nieto, check out some of the hilarious tweets.
