ICYMI Netflix casually dropped the first part of season two of The Lincoln Lawyer yesterday (6th July). The series inspired by the novels of the same name by Michael Connelly, tells the story of Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), who runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln.

Despite only being released yesterday, we may have binge watched it all in one sitting. In fairness to us, the first part is only five episodes long with the second batch scheduled to drop on Netflix on 3rd August.

Whilst we wait nearly a month for the second part (seriously Netflix??) we need to discuss what happened in the final episode of part one and what this potentially means for Mickey in the second part of the series.

Here's everything you need to know about the ending of The Lincoln Lawyer season two part one.

What is season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer about?

The new season opens with Mickey Haller getting attacked in a parking lot. The whole first part of season two is about discovering what has led up to this moment.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, three months earlier Mickey is fresh off the back of winning the Trevor Elliot case, experiencing new fame and success. As part of his new found fame, Mickey takes on a new case of defending chef and activist Lisa Trammell (Lana Parrilla), who has been accused of murdering real estate developer Mitchell Bondurant (Clint Carmichael).

Lisa was accused of Mitchell's murder due to her public feud with Mitchell over his urbanisation plans which could threaten her business.

As well as trying to defend Lisa from the murder accusation, things start to heat up between Mickey and Lisa. Err, not exactly the ideal lawyer-client relationship?

How does The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 part one end?

The final episode of season two part one of The Lincoln Lawyer opens with Mickey at Lisa's restaurant, fantasising about her licking caramel off his lips. Turns out he is only imagining this but he is at Lisa's restaurant and the pair are discussing strategies. Mickey is insisting on connecting with Lisa's ex-husband Jeff, who Lisa swears won't testify. Despite her initial reluctance she agrees to help Mickey track Jeff down.

Mickey returns to his office to begin brainstorming some new ideas for how to help Lisa, he's hoping he can get the judge to question the merits of the case in order for Andrea (Yaya DaCosta) to reveal all the evidence she has, which he can then use to help Lisa.

Just as he thinks things are going ok, Izzy (Jazz Raycole) lets Mickey know a true crime podcaster Henry Dahl (Matt Angel) is starting a series about Lisa's case. This confuses Mickey, who heads down to see Lisa and ask what's going on. Lisa clarifies Henry is only using old interviews and she gave Henry permission so she can pay Mickey from the advertisement money henry is giving her. Whilst he's annoyed, Lisa reveals she has an email address for Jeff which seems to cheer him up slightly.

We're now back in the courtroom and Mickey manages to get Andrea's detective dismissed from the case. When he and Lisa are leaving court they're confronted by Henry, who is annoyed at Mickey for halting the podcast. This in turn pisses off Lisa who had previously told Mickey she'd deal with it.

Later that day Mickey receives a call from Jeff, who says he won't testify on Lisa's behalf and shuts down questions about that missing hammer.

In the evening Cisco's (Angus Sampson) plan is finally revealed as we see the authorities raid the Road Saint's hangout. Though it looks like he may have set them up, we actually learn this isn't the case and in fact he helped them hide their guns, so he and Kaz could have their freedom.

Whilst in court the next day Mickey receives a photo from Lorna (Becki Newton) who has recreated the scene in which Andrea's witness claims she saw Lisa walking away from Mitchell's office. The photos cast significant doubt over Schafer's testimony but the case isn't won just yet. Andrea brings in a forensic expert who has a pair of gardening gloves that belong to Lisa which have a small blood stain on them that match the victim.

Lisa goes onto admit she did park outside Mitchell's office but argues she is being set up for his murder.

Panicked he's going to lose the case, Mickey pulls an all-nighter to try and scramble a better defence together. He receives an article from Izzy which reveals Henry is turning Lisa's case into a limited TV series. Mickey is instantly confused as he is the one who has possession of the document that details Lisa's rights. Or does he?

Mickey heads out to the parking lot to try and find the missing document, as he frantically searches he's approached by two men who beat him and attack him, mirroring the early scene from the beginning of the season.

The episode ends there, leaving us with a LOT of questions. Namely, who is attacking Mickey and why? Is Mickey going to survive this attack? And what would happen to Lisa's case if he doesn't recover in time?

Hopefully our questions will be answered when part two of The Lincoln Lawyer drops on Netflix on 3rd August.
