Doctor Who star Georgia Tennant has teased a "hugely exciting" new role – though she can't speak about it.

Speaking to Country & Town House about the upcoming BBC release of the third season of Staged, Georgia hinted that she has a big new role coming up.

When asked if she has any roles in the pipeline that she is excited about, Georgia said: "Yes, hugely. But I have just had a text from my agent saying I am not allowed to talk about it."

Georgia met her Doctor Who star husband on the set of the BBC sci-fi series where she starred as the Doctor's daughter.

Back in 2022, a third season of Staged was announced and released on BritBox. Now coming to the BBC, the hit lockdown series from David Tennant and Michael Sheen saw the actors as they attempted to rehearse a play during the COVID-19 pandemic

Now in its third season, Georgia, who plays a fictionalised version of herself alongside husband David Tennant, has opened up about what to expect now that the pandemic is over.

"We’re out of lockdown. David and Michael still speak daily, but what was a comfort in the past is a chore in the present," Georgia said. "When Simon sucks them into the chaos of a half-baked Christmas project, things cannonball out of control quickly; but Georgia is on hand to record the resultant mayhem from more behind-the-scenes than ever.

"This time, we were allowed outside our boxes, so experiencing Staged in 3D was really special. Odd to have real people in front of you at times but, much like the whole pandemic experience, it felt like the next natural step in returning to our new normal."
