There's nothing more adorable than turning your teetering tot into a hobblin' goblin. While nothing is scarier than the terrible twos, this easy costume should spook the entire crew. As a bonus, it's a super comfortable option, so you can mark one less reason for a tantrum off your list.

  1. We recommend using fleece as your white base because it'll keep your kiddo warm, won't snag, and you can cut it to fit any size. Fold the fabric over, then in half, and measure to find the middle of the fold line. Mark this spot with a pin, measure about four inches on either side of the pin, and mark. Cut a small semi-circle and check to see if your child can fit their head through the hole.

  2. Now that you have the perfect poncho cut the edges on all sides into triangular strips with sharp edges about an inch wide and five inches high to get your ghostly tails.

  3. Next, using a ghost face template cut the eyes and mouth out of black adhesive felt and stick the pieces on the center of the poncho.

Tip: You can swap the white fleece for an oversized t-shirt or white hoodie for warmer climates and an even easier DIY ghost costume.

Who said ghosts can't look a little glam? This Victorian-inspired look is a break from the basic two holes and a white sheet bit and offers an excuse to head to a boo-tique. The best part is you can easily repurpose the items from this outfit and use them to make other costumes like a zombie bride, Marilyn Monroe, or even a pirate.

  1. Begin with a white flowy dress—ideally something that goes down to your ankles or feet for the floating effect.

  2. Apply a dark eyeshadow in black or deep blue to create hollowed-out, lifeless eyes.

  3. Add accessories like a prop candelabra and white veil so everyone you're just passing through until you find your way to the other side.

Tip: You can bring this undead look to life by topping off your makeup with dark purple lipstick and some highlighter for a ghostly glow.

What better way to get your dog into the spirit of Halloween than by turning him into one? Even the pups with the littlest patience can sit still for this easy DIY ghost costume. The spooky fit will have trick-or-treaters take paws before crossing your threshold.

  1. Take a plain white bedsheet, an old tablecloth, or even an oversized T-Shirt depending on how big your dog is, and place it over Fido. Mark how much of the cloth you'll need to cover him. Once you've cut the cloth, measure again to mark where his eyes, nose, and mouth are and remove the cloth.

  2. Cut holes where you've made marks, and he's all set to haunt the neighborhood.

  3. Bonus: you can consider adding a tutu for a little extra flair.

Most fussy babies are already in character for this one, but luckily you don't need a wailing infant to complete their ghost costume. Turning your child into a pint-sized Casper is an adorable costume for all ages, but those under one turn out a little more fun.

  1. Start with a white base like a onesie, hoodie, or t-shirt and shorts.

  2. Using black adhesive felt cut out two circles for ghost eyes and place them on a white beanie or cap.

  3. Add fun stickers like spiders or cobwebs to the base of the costume.
