Digital Media Company Pongalo Previews Global SVOD Service

Pongalo, the U.S.-based Latino digital media company formerly known as Latin Everywhere, has launched a preview of its global subscription streaming service. For $5.99 a month, subscribers will have access to 10,000-plus hours of Spanish-language telenovelas, Hollywood movies, TV series, documentaries and kids programming.

The offering also marks Pongalo’s venture into original content with the digital world premiere of Piel Salvaje, starring Irene Esser, Carlos Felipe Alvarez and Carlos Cruz. A second original will come soon.

Pongalo recently received additional capital investments from mobile-focused private-equity fund Digital Bridge and digital media fund Canyon Creek Capital. After a recent stake deal by Revolution Studios, funding for the media player climbed to high-seven figures.

Spanish-language telenovelas have continued to grow in popularity, inspiring English-language adaptations such as CW’s Jane the Virgin and USA’s Queen of the South. Recent announcements of upcoming Latin-centric streaming services from media players such as Cox Communications’ Glosi and a new partnership formed by Lionsgate and Univision further cements the robust market potential.

Pongalo’s film library includes Spanish-language versions of mostly Sony and Warner Bros films including xXx, Black Hawk Down, Daddy Day Care and Maid in Manhattan.
