Didu RTW Fall 2023

The fall 2023 collection marks Didu’s first show in Paris, where founder Di Du moved after the pandemic, an experience she said she relished despite the logistical challenges.

“This collection is filled with my experiences in Paris and the cultural clash that emerged from moving here from China,” she said, revealing she plans to set up a proper studio in the French capital as a base to scale her brand’s international business.

For this first Paris-centric effort, she imagined a world where ballet dancers are thrown into a kung fu movie, in which the female assassins are both deadly and seductive. She offered a series of sultry sheer qipao with curving cutouts to show more skin, a few of them cut to only have the collar left and a bit of fabric covering the breast.

There were other signs of her new Parisian life, like the floral pattern used on white wide-leg pants, and a bodysuit cut high on the leg, taken from a coffee cup she used during the early days of her move last October. Both came with sheer body pieces inspired by a tutu, and velvet lace boots based on the pointe shoe.

The collection offered on-trend items as well, such as a leather flower mini bikini top, ripped knitted leggings, feather-adorned miniskirts, and a cap-sleeve dress with just a bare minimum of fabric hanging from the body to evoke a tea dress.
