Didie Alias: I have nothing against Anna Jobling
23 Sep - Actress-comedienne Didie Alias has denied the notion that she was envious of actress Anna Jobling, who was hired as one of the fixed jury members for a comedy competition.
The 52-year-old, who voiced her frustration earlier, stated that she has no issue with Anna at all, and understood the idea of TV stations wanting someone with star power to attract higher ratings.
"But why can't they hire one of the many comediennes we have here in this country to sit alongside Saiful Apek and Harith Iskander?" she asked.
Didie stated that their male counterparts are never dearth of jobs compared to comediennes like Raja Azura, Sharifah Shahira, Jihan Muse and even herself.
"We need people with such experience to comment on the contestants. A comedian will know how to improve on the performances of the contestants so they can do better," she said.
The actress stated that she decided to voice her frustration since not a lot of people would defend female comedians like her and her peers.
