Did Mike Tyson Leak a New 'Punch-Out' Game without Mike Tyson?
Mike Tyson may have just revealed which classic video game Nintendo is giving the comeback treatment. The gaming giant recently announced that it has a few more surprises for Nintendo Switch owners coming in 2019, along with the return of an older series. And just as speculation as to what that older series might be started whirling, Tyson chimed in on Twitter.
“heard @Nintendo was doing the new “Punch Out” without even contacting me. it wont be the same. my knockouts made the game. thats whack,” he tweeted Thursday. It adds up.
While this could just be blatant misinformation on Tyson's part, we really hope we can step back into Little Mac’s green shorts and take out a new cast of champions. Tyson definitely has made a different name for himself since the first Punch-Out was released in 1987-originally titled Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! The tweet also inspired some more rumors about a possible Punch-Out movie with Tyson. Honestly, we’d watch that. Nintendo could make it official as soon as this month in an April Direct, if it does in fact plan on bringing the video game back, so hopefully we won’t have to wait long for confirmation.

Nintendo also recently unveiled more information about its Labo VR, including new support for two of the Switch's bestsellers: Super Mario Odyssey and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Punch-Out seems like the perfect opportunity to widen that library. With games such as Creed and Knockout League, it’s clear boxing is a great fit for VR. It’s only right that we see the father of boxing games get the VR treatment, too.

The Mr. Dream version of Punch-Out was recently re-released on the NES Switch Online app, so it's been on everyone's mind-and maybe an appetizer for what's to come. By the way, Tyson didn't like that news, either.

Nintendo is giving us a lot to be excited about on the horizon with Pokémon Sword and Shield, Mario Maker 2, and the Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Let’s hope a new Punch-Out joins that list.
