Diane Keaton to Receive AFI Life Achievement Award
Diane Keaton will be the 45th person to receive the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award.
The honor places the actress in the ranks of past recipients like Alfred Hitchcock, Sidney Poitier, Meryl Streep and Mike Nichols, and it will be presented to her on June 8, 2017, in Los Angeles.
“Diane Keaton is one of the most beloved leading ladies of American film,” Sir Howard Stringer, chair of AFI’s board of trustees, said in a statement.

“Peerless in her mastery of both comedy and drama, she has won the world’s heart time and again by creating characters of both great strength and vulnerability.”
Known forher roles in “The Godfather,” “Annie Hall,” “Father of the Bride” and “The First Wives Club,” Keaton will also be lauded for her below-the-line work as a director (“Hanging Up”), producer (“Elephant”) and artist.
The AFI Life Achievement Award Tribute telecast returns for a fifth year with Turner Broadcasting to air on TNT, followed by encore presentations on sister network Turner Classic Movies (TCM).

The AFI last honored composer John Williams in a star-studded tribute that drew the likes of Steven Spielberg , George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, Drew Barrymore and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The 43rd AFI Life Achievement Award honored Steve Martin, and other recipients include Mel Brooks (2013), Tom Hanks (2002) and Streep (2004).
