Devin Booker Debuts Exclusive Version of His Sneaker Inspired by a Phoenix Suns Legend
Friday’s Phoenix Suns home game against the Utah Jazz included a milestone celebration for star Devin Booker, who was honored ahead of the match-up for becoming the Suns’ all-time leading scorer. But instead of making the moment all about himself, Booker used the opportunity to celebrate fellow Suns legend Steve Nash’s birthday with a special pair of sneakers.
Following the pre-game honoring of Booker, the star laced up a pair of his signature Nike Book 1 sneakers in a Suns-appropriate white, purple and black colorway. A closer look at the shoes revealed that it wasn’t just a Phoenix-inspired look, but that it actually took design cues from one of the Nikes worn by Nash during his Hall of Fame career. Specifically, Booker’s sneakers were inspired by the Nike Cradle Rock Low model worn by Nash in the late 2000s.

Booker’s Book 1 was a near panel-to-panel replication of the Cradle Rock Low sneakers worn by Nash. On his Instagram story, Booker shared a close-up comparison of the two sneakers which show matching patent leather toe tips, shiny purple Swoosh logos, orange eyelets and even the purple-and-black plaid pattern from the tongue. Overall, it was a subtle, yet meaningful way to pay homage to a Suns legend.
Booker’s Suns scoring record was set during Monday’s overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he hit a third-quarter three-pointer to tally his 15,667th career point. The bucket put his total beyond the record previously held by Walter Davis for the last 36 years. Prior to Friday’s game, Booker was gifted autographed jerseys of Davis and other former Suns all-time scoring leaders Alvan Adams, Dick Van Arsdale, and Gail Goodrich. Also included in the plaque was a headset belonging to the late Al McCoy, who was the Suns commentator from 1972 to 2023.
Throughout the season, Booker has worn a number of exclusive versions of his Nike Book 1 including a pair inspired by the Nike Air Max 95 and another inspired by the Nike Cortez in Suns colors.
Unfortunately for Booker fans, it’s unlikely that his Nash-inspired Nike Book 1 PE will be released to the public. However, there’s a small selection of Nike Cradle Rock Low pairs currently available on eBay.
