‘Descendants 2’: Teaser & New Logo Unveiled For Disney Channel Sequel
We’re getting a sneak peek at a new teaser and logo (see above and below) for Descendants 2, a sequel to Disney Channel’s hit 2015 musical fantasy original movie about the teenage children of classic Disney villains.
The clip will air tonight during a half-hour special Season 1 finale of Descendants: Wicked World beginning at 8 PM EDT on Disney Channel. It was announced earlier this week that the series had been greenlighted for a second season.
In the Descendants 2 spot, Mal (daughter of Maleficent), Evie (daughter of the Evil Queen), Carlos (son of Cruella de Vil) and Jay (son of Jafar) leave the “Neon Lights Ball,” where the Descendants: Wicked World special is set, and a powerful nod to the new character Uma, the daughter of Ursula (played by China Anne McClain), takes over with a sweeping tentacle.
Descendants director Kenny Ortega returns to direct, executive produce and choreograph Descendants 2, along with writers Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon, costume designer Kara Saun, and production designer Mark Hofeling. They’re joined by Ortega’s frequent collaborator Tony Testa (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, This Is It) who will serve as co-choreographer, and by producer Shawn Williamson. Parriott and McGibbon also will executive produce alongside Wendy Japhet.
Descendants 2 will begin production in the coming months for a 2017 premiere.
