Derrick Monasterio says sorry for AIDS joke

The actor apologises for sharing the joke he read on Twitter

19 Jan – Kapuso singer-actor Derrick Monasterio has recently apologised for sharing an unwelcomed joke about AIDS on social media.

As reported on PEP News, on 17 January, the actor decided to share a joke he read online on his Instagram Story, which read, "I have a friend who's miserable because he just found out that he has AIDS.

"My advice: stay positive."

However, the joke was not received well by some followers, who stated that there is nothing funny about being diagnosed with the syndrome.

The actor later posted another message on Instagram, writing, "Hi guys! Good evening! I just saw that joke on [Twitter] and I didn't think that it's gonna be an issue. But sorry if I offended some of you in a way."
