Deno Cheung is ready to protest
16 Mar – HTV actor and former TVB artiste Deno Cheung recently stated that he has no qualms about expressing his dissatisfaction with the latest clash between HKTV and the Office of Communications Authority (OFCA).
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who is currently filming HKTV's new series, "Doomsday+5", recently expressed his frustrations with the difficulties faced by HKTV in achieving their broadcasting dream.
A few days ago, the company CEO, Ricky Wong announced that the launch of HKTV's mobile television will have to postponed due to OFCA's new disclosure that the company will have to obtain a TV license in order to continue with their plans.
According to the OFCA, HKTV's proposed transmissions standard would render its mobile television service immediately available to an audience of more than 5,000 specified premises in Hong Kong, and thus, is required to obtain a domestic free television programme service license and/or a domestic pay television programme service license before it can operate.
Deno, who confirmed that the filming of his new series would continue, said that he has plans to hold a demonstration and a sit-in to express his frustrations.
In regards to his HKTV contract, which will expire in May, Deno said that he is still unsure whether to renew it due to the issue. However, the actor is certain that he will never return to TVB.
"If the push comes to a shove, I will just change my profession," said the actor.
