Dear Golden Globe Awards, America Ferrera Is Not Gina Rodriguez

The Golden Globe Awards nominations announcement may not have seemed full of buzzy moments, but those on Twitter seem to have caught something to set tongues wagging. Actually, they caught a few things.

The official Golden Globes Twitter handle posted a pretty pic of the stars on stage, with America Ferrera taking the podium and “kicking off @goldenglobes nominations announcements.” Only, apparently whoever was handling the account missed the memo about who was making the announcements this morning — they identified the Superstore star as Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez. Oops!

Oh, and it didn’t just happen once — eagle eyes noticed that the same mistake was made twice!

At least Rodriguez was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Musical or Comedy for her performance on Jane the Virgin, right?

The account wisely took the severely flawed posts down rather quickly. Neither Ferrera or Rodriguez has commented about the gaffes, nor has the Hollywood Foreign Press Association made any sort of apology at this time.

In case anyone forgot, both Latina actresses are already Golden Globe winners. Ferrera won Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Musical or Comedy back in 2007 for Ugly Betty, and Rodriguez won the same gong last year.

The Golden Globe Awards air on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, on NBC. Stay tuned to Yahoo TV and Yahoo Movies for news on all the nominees.
