'Deadpool' sequel loses director Tim Miller

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in the 2016 film

The next installment of "Deadpool" will take on a decidedly different feel with the departure of director Tim Miller.

Over the weekend, Deadline reported that a series of creative differences between Miller and star Ryan Reynolds has led to the director's exit from the upcoming sequel.

The original "Deadpool" grossed $728 million worldwide and became the highest grossing R-rated film and the biggest grossing "X-Men" film.

It also marked Miller's directorial debut.

Despite the setback, Miller is set to jump into another Fox project "Influx," an adaptation of the Daniel Suarez novel that will become a film trilogy.

"Deadpool 2" is expected to hit theaters on January 12, 2018.
