Dayo Wong remains an actor for movie, "Table for Six"

27 Jan – Dayo Wong recently revealed that he decided to just be an actor for his upcoming Lunar New Year film after losing money directing his 2020 film, "The Grand Grandmaster".

As reported on Mingpao, the actor and stand-up comedian, who attended the promotional event of his new CNY movie, "Table for Six", told host Carol Cheng as much when she asked the reason why he didn't direct or produce the new movie.

"Although "The Grand Grandmaster" made over HKD 30 million at the box office, the movie itself was very expensive, so I lost a lot of money. I realise it's stupid of me to be the director, so this time I'm just going to be the actor."

Dayo said that director Sunny Chan came to him with a complete script and that he quickly agreed to play the lead after reading it.

When asked if he did a lot of adlibs as he would usually do in his dramas or movies in the past, he responded, "This time I performed with the mentality of a stage actor. I thought the script was "Shakespearean". Why would you want to change it?"

Co-starring Stephy Tang, Louis Cheung, Ivana Wong, and Lin Min Chen, "Table for Six" stars Dayo as a man who finds himself facing his worst nightmare - having his former flame turning up at his annual dinner as his half-sibling's new girlfriend.
