We thought he looked sharp in anything, but we were totally mistaken. Thanks to Instagram, we got to see a picture of David Beckham in his King Arthur makeup, and he looks horrifying. Of course, that was probably the effect he was looking for. So, a total win for Beckham.

Beckham, known best for soccer (and his famous family) only has a brief cameo in the movie, officially titled King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword. The film, directed by Guy Ritchie, is set to debut in theaters this May. Actor Charlie Hunnam is the lucky guy who’ll be featured in the title role.

While Beckham has been in a few short films since, his last feature-length movie role was back in 2015, with The Man from U.N.C.L.E. So, it makes sense that he still gets giddy over fun makeup and on-set magic.

In Beckham’s words, it was a “rough day at the office.”

We’re definitely shocked and amazed by his transformation! To compare, here’s what Beckham looks like on any other day.

Great to be back in Shanghai ❤

And, uh…maybe just one more for good measure.

It’s been reported that six King Arthur films have been planned. Since we don’t know much about Beckham’s character, we’re not sure whether or not he’ll be featured in future installments. But based on that excited, toothy smile (gunk and all) we have a feeling that Beckham wouldn’t mind coming back for more adventure.
